Why this programme sells

Bosnia Classic is the complete first trip to Bosnia and Herzegovina in one week. It covers the capital, the Ottoman towns of central Bosnia, the waterfalls of Jajce and Kravice, and Herzegovina with Mostar, Blagaj and Počitelj. Drives are short, there are no border crossings and every day has a clear highlight, which makes it easy to sell and easy to operate.

It works for culture groups, study tours, Turkish and European markets, and as the Bosnia core of a longer Balkan programme. With a Mostar or Dubrovnik departure instead of Sarajevo, it becomes an open-jaw tour that saves a day of driving.

Day-by-day itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Arrival in Sarajevo

Meet and greet at Sarajevo International Airport and transfer to the hotel (20 to 30 minutes). Depending on arrival time, an orientation walk along Ferhadija to Baščaršija and a welcome dinner with Bosnian dishes.

  2. Day 2

Sarajevo: four faiths and a century of history

Full-day guided tour. Baščaršija, the Sebilj fountain, Morića Han and the Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque. The Catholic Cathedral, the Old Orthodox Church and the Old Synagogue. Continue to Jajce (about 1 hour 15 minutes): the Pliva waterfall in the town centre, the fortress and catacombs, the AVNOJ museum and the Pliva watermills by the lakes. Jajce to Mostar via the Neretva valley

Drive through Donji Vakuf, Bugojno and Prozor to Jablanica (about 2 hours), with a stop at the Jablanica bridge and the Battle of the Neretva museum and a lamb lunch on the spit, a local tradition. Continue along the Neretva canyon to Mostar (about 45 minutes). Late afternoon guided walk: Stari Most, the old bazaar and the Koski Mehmed Pasha Mosque, with the bridge in evening light. Total driving about 3 hours.

  • Superior: upper 4-star and 5-star hotels in Sarajevo, and boutique hotels in or near the old towns of Sarajevo and Mostar
  • Boutique options in old Ottoman houses for small groups and FIT
  • Larger groups (over 40) are usually split between two hotels in Jajce; we can also overnight in Travnik instead

Group size and guiding

The programme operates for any group size, from two travellers in a private car with a driver-guide to 45 travellers in a full-size coach. For groups of 10 to 20 we use a midibus, which handles old-town access more easily.

A licensed guide or tour manager travels with the group from day 1 to day 7, in English, German, Turkish, Arabic or Italian. In Sarajevo and Mostar we add local city guides where local rules require it or where you want more depth.

FAQ

Can the tour end in Mostar or Dubrovnik instead of Sarajevo?

Yes. With an open jaw, day 6 becomes a Mostar to Dubrovnik transfer (about 2.5 to 3 hours including the Croatian border), or the group departs from Mostar airport. Check the Schengen visa needs of your clients for Croatia.

Is the programme suitable for older travellers?

Yes. Drives are short and the walking is on old-town cobbles and some steps. In Jajce and Počitelj we can limit climbs to the lower parts of the sites.

Can you run it as a series with weekly departures?

Yes. We contract hotel allotments for series with agreed release dates, so you can sell weekly or fortnightly departures through the season.

Can this programme be made halal-friendly?

Yes. We confirm halal menus, alcohol-free dining where required and prayer times in the daily plan.

Is it possible in winter?

Yes, with changes: Kravice is less suitable, roads in central Bosnia can be snowy and daylight is short. We would shorten the Jajce day and add a mountain or Sarajevo experience.
