What we handle in Kosovo
Kosovo is small, and most groups need one or two nights. It is the bridge on routes running from Bosnia to North Macedonia or Albania, and Prizren is one of the best-preserved Ottoman towns in the Balkans, which makes it a highlight of our Ottoman-heritage programmes. We book hotels, coaches, local guides and monastery visits and include them in the same contract as the rest of the tour.
Kosovo also suits culture groups interested in Serbian Orthodox medieval art: the monasteries of Visoki Dečani, the Patriarchate of Peć and Gračanica are UNESCO-listed as the Medieval Monuments in Kosovo.
Key places for groups
- Prizren: the Sinan Pasha Mosque, the stone bridge, the old hamams and the fortress above the town.
- Pristina: the capital, with its Newborn monument, National Library and Ethnological Museum.
- Peja and the Rugova gorge: the Patriarchate of Peć and mountain scenery on the way towards Montenegro.
- Visoki Dečani monastery: one of the finest medieval monasteries in the region; visits follow its own rules on dress and access.
- Gračanica monastery, a short drive from Pristina.

Border and entry notes
Bosnia and Kosovo do not share a border; coach routes from Sarajevo pass through Serbia or Montenegro. Bosnia and Herzegovina does not recognise Kosovo, and Serbia does not recognise Kosovo's borders with Albania, North Macedonia and Montenegro as international entry points. In practice, travellers who enter Kosovo from those countries may have problems leaving Kosovo directly for Serbia. Plan the order of countries carefully, and check current practice before departure.
Kosovo's own entry rules apply to each nationality and can differ from those of its neighbours. We confirm them at booking. Last checked: October 2026.
Best season and gateway airport
May, June, September and October are best for walking Prizren and visiting the monasteries. Summer is warm and busier, especially in August when many people visit family in Kosovo.
Pristina is Kosovo's international airport. For multi-country routes we often fly groups in or out through Skopje or Tirana instead, depending on the route and flight prices.
Who Kosovo suits and how we sell it
Turkish, Gulf and Southeast Asian groups following the Ottoman heritage of the Balkans see Prizren as a highlight: an old town of mosques, hamams and a stone bridge below the fortress. European culture groups come for the frescoes of the medieval monasteries. Study and current-affairs groups look at Kosovo's recent history and its relations with its neighbours.
Kosovo is also one of the least-known Balkan destinations, which makes it a good selling point for operators who want something new in a programme. Distances are short, so one coach day can cover Peja, Dečani and Prizren.
Because routing is sensitive, we always confirm the full order of countries, crossing points and nationalities before contracting.
Kosovo questions from tour operators
Can you include Kosovo in a tour from Sarajevo?
Yes. The usual route goes from Sarajevo through Serbia's Sandžak to Peja and Prizren, then on to Skopje or Tirana.
Can a group travel from Kosovo to Serbia?
It depends on how the group entered Kosovo. If they entered from Albania, North Macedonia or Montenegro, leaving directly for Serbia may cause problems. We plan the routing so that the group's exit is not at risk.
Can you arrange monastery visits?
Yes. We plan visits to Visoki Dečani, the Patriarchate of Peć and Gračanica, taking account of dress codes and access rules.
How many nights does Kosovo need?
One night in Prizren covers the essentials; two nights add Pristina or Peja and the Rugova gorge.
